Welcome to Dendrobium section Stachyobium in Thailand

Dendrobium Sw. section Stachyobium are epiphytic, comprising about 44 species worldwide. It distributed mainly in Tropical Asia that India and Thailand is probably centre of distribution. Previously, 23 species was enumerated in Thailand, including 11 species are endemics. Because of its difficulty of species identification, the incomplete of its circumscriptions, and the risk of illegal trade, this study aims to revise the orchid genus Dendrobium Sw. section Stachyobium in Thailand by examining morphological and anatomical structures of the existing species as well as the coming new taxa as a basis for constructing key to species and re-write description of species. A basic information obtains from this study can be used for classification and identification. Moreover, research on its conservation and utilization of this orchid can be promoted in the future.
